384 Deputy Seán Sherlock asked the Minister for Education and Science if she will sanction funding for new primary school buildings at a school (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that the planning section of the DEIS have passed all requirements regarding need, projected figures and local area plans and that the school has used prefabs for almost 20 years. An application for capital funding towards the provision of a new school has been received from the school referred to by the Deputy. An assessment of projected enrolment trends, demographic trends and housing developments in the area was carried out in order to inform the determination of the long term projected staffing on which the school's accommodation needs will be based. This has been finalised and notified to the school.

The building project required is being considered in the context of the School Building and Modernisation Programme.
