The provision of transport under the School Transport Scheme may be considered in respect of education facilities which are recognised by my Department. As the facility referred to by the Deputy in the details supplied is neither recognised nor funded by my Department, the question of providing transport under the terms of the Scheme does not arise.

However, the Deputy will be aware that the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) has responsibility, through its network of local Special Educational Needs Organisers (SENO), for the establishment of special classes for autism and for allocating resource teachers and special needs assistants to schools to support children with special needs. Parents are encouraged to contact their local SENO to discuss their child's special educational needs using the contact details on www.ncse.ie.
