Question:

912 Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the targets set for each local authority for the number of tenancies to be transferred from rent supplement to the rental accommodation scheme; the outcome in respect of these targets; and the targets that are now in place for each local authority. Good progress is being made in implementing the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS) and to date authorities have accommodated over 13,000 cases — 3,700 to private rented sector accommodation, 3,000 within the voluntary & co-operative sector and an additional 6,300 through other social housing options.

The overall target for the numbers of households transferring from Rent Supplement to RAS for 2008 and 2009 is 10,000. Indicative targets for each local authority area, as set out in individual local authorities' Housing Action Plans, are set out in the following table.
