881 Deputy Paul Kehoe asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if there are by laws in place with regard to the requirement of county or town councillors to obtain advice from conservation experts before an undertaking (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. There is no requirement in law for county or town councillors to obtain advice from conservation experts. However, if the building in question is on the "Record of Protected Structures" planning permission is required for demolition under the Planning and Development Act 2000.
