56 Deputy Emmet Stagg asked the Minister for Transport if he will provide details, including the location and nature of the proposed projects by the National Roads Authority and the estimated cost of each that has been submitted by him for approval by the Department of Finance under the new policy where all capital projects not contractually committed require the approval of the Department of Finance. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme element of Transport 21. The construction, improvement and maintenance of individual national roads is a matter for the National Roads Authority under the Roads Act 1993 in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.
