195 Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the change in policy regarding expiry dates on the issuing of medical cards to people aged over 70 years; the reason a renewed medical card in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will expire in 18 months as compared to the person’s previous medical card which was valid for five years. The administration of medical card applications, including assessment and dates for review, is the responsibility of the Health Service Executive. My Department has therefore requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to address these matters and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
