323 Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs if she will state, in view of the decentralisation programme announced in December 2003, the properties rented or acquired as a consequence of that programme in respect of her Department and of every State body for which it is responsible; the date of commencement of the rental or date of purchase of each property; the cost of each property purchased or the annual rental of each property rented; the number of staff transferred into each property as of 1 January of each year from the commencement of the rental or the date of the acquisition of each property, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the Decentralisation Programme, the Office of Public Works has acquired buildings in Sligo, Carrick-on-Shannon and Buncrana on behalf of the Department. In February 2007, 72 posts in the Department were transferred to Sligo to a purpose built office. In April 2007, 159 posts were transferred to Carrick on Shannon to a new leased building acquired by the OPW. In November, 2009, 87 posts were transferred to Buncrana to a new purpose built office.

The rental of the Carrick on Shannon office commenced on 18 July 2006 at an annual cost of €800,000 per annum.
