Written answers

The flooding problem at the location concerned was investigated by the Office of Public Works last year on foot of representations by the Deputy, and it was found that it did not involve a channel for which the OPW has a statutory maintenance responsibility.

It would be open to Monaghan County Council to submit an application under the OPW Minor Flood Works Scheme for funding to undertake flood mitigation works. No such application has been submitted to date. If an application is submitted that meets the eligibility criteria of the scheme, it will be considered having regard to the overall availability of resources for flood risk management.
