170 Deputy Jonathan O’Brien asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will establish an Irish crime council in order to provide independent expertise, research and advice to the Government and relevant bodies on international best practice on crime prevention. [4287/12]

I can inform the Deputy that my Department has no plans to re-establish the National Crime Council. I should also mention that the White Paper on Crime process, which is underway at the moment, has involved consultation with a wide range of interests about best practice on crime prevention.
