315 Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Question No. 23 of 19 January 2012, the position regarding the patronage for new second level schools in Dundalk and Drogheda. [18223/12]
View answerAs outlined in the Parliamentary Question referred to above, in June of last year I announced that 20 new second level schools would be established across a number of locations up to 2017 to meet increasing demographics. These included new second level schools in both Dundalk and Drogheda, each to commence operation in 2014. Applications for patronage of the new second level schools to be established in 2013 and 2014 were sought by my Department from prospective patrons and the closing date for receipt of applications was 24th February 2012. Details of the applications received are available on my Department's website. Officials are currently assessing the applications received, in line with the published criteria, and a report will be prepared for consideration by the New Schools Establishment Group, who will in turn submit same to me for consideration and final decision.
