78 Deputy Brian Walsh asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will consider reviewing the assessment process for a third level course application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Galway to allow this person to complete an assessment test in view of the fact that course assessments have already taken place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Universities Act 1997 universities are autonomous institutions and the management of their academic affairs, including admissions criteria and processes, are matters for the individual institutions concerned. Neither I nor my Department has any function in relation to the processing of applications for entry to higher education courses.
