226 Deputy Simon Harris asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of staff who took sick leave of more than five, ten, 15, 20 days and 21 days or over in 2011 in all agencies, offices or other bodies reporting to her Department; the length of the ten highest incidences of sick leave across these bodies; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The agencies operating under the aegis of the Department are the Citizens Information Board and the Pensions Board. In addition, the Office of the Pensions Ombudsman comes under the remit of the Department.

None of the sick leave absences that occurred in respect of the staff serving in the Office of the Pensions Ombudsman exceeded 5 days in 2011.

The ten highest instances of sick leave across the agencies in 2011 were 85 days, 72 days, 59 days, 36 days, 32.5 days, 27 days, 25 days, 19 days, 18.5 days and 16 days respectively.
