291 Deputy John Paul Phelan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if there will be any extra milk quota available to those suppliers facing large super-levy bills as a result of their dairy herds being restricted by reason of disease in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Earlier this year my Department made temporary allocations of milk quota, on the basis of recommendations received from the independent Appeals Tribunal Panel, totalling some 25m litres from the National Reserve to almost 1,000 milk suppliers who applied under this Department's Animal Disease Scheme. Given the significant pressures on milk quotas in the last Milk Quota year my Department is not in a position to make any further quota available for this Scheme.
