407 Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of sick days taken by staff in her Department in 2009, 2010 and 2011; the average number of sick days per staff in total across her Department and broken down by Department section in 2009, 2010 and 2011; and the median number of sick days per staff in total across her Department and broken down by Department section in 2009, 2010 and 2011 in tabular form. Details of the number of sick days taken by staff in my Department in 2009, 2010 and 2011 are provided in the table that follows this reply. The details are not in the format requested by the Deputy because such detail is not available and could not be provided within the available timeframe. The table provides details of the number of staff who took sick leave in each of the specified years and the average number of sick days for each employee of the Department during those years. The median figure is not available.
