437 Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the number of sick days taken by staff in his Department in 2009, 2010 and 2011; the average number of sick days per staff in total across his Department and broken down by Department section in 2009, 2010 and 2011; and the median number of sick days per staff in total across his Department and broken down by Department section in 2009, 2010 and 2011 in tabular form. As the Deputy will be aware my Department was established on 2 June 2011.

In the period from 2nd June 2011 to 31st December 2011 there was a total of 3,977.55 sick days taken by staff in my Department. The average number of sick days taken per employee over this period was 6.22 days. Sick Leave records are not maintained on a section by section basis.
