520. Deputy Paul J. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture; Food and the Marine the number of persons in County Galway who have yet to receive their disadvantaged area payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [43196/12]

Payments under the 2012 Disadvantaged Areas Scheme commenced issuing, on target, on 26 September and, to date, payments worth in excess of €166 million have issued to almost 76,000 applicants. Of the 12,485 Scheme applications from Galway, payments have, to date, issued to 8,700, with the balance currently being processed. Payments continue to issue twice weekly, with individual cases being paid as they are confirmed eligible.
