Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Health the negotiations or discussions that he or his Department officials have had with the National Assets Management Agency regarding the future of Mount Carmel Private Maternity Hospital, County Dublin; the number of times they have met to discuss this topic; if any joint meetings have been held between his Department, St. James Hospital and NAMA with respect to Mount Carmel; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Health if he has had any discussions with St James Hospital, Dublin, regarding the recent news that it was considering acquiring Mount Carmel Maternity Hospital in Churchtown; if any public money has been committed for such a purchase; if any strategic planning has been carried out on the impact it might have on the public maternity hospitals in the south Dublin area; his views and what is his position on such a purchase; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am not aware, at this time, of any meetings with NAMA and my Department, between St James's and NAMA or any other discussions that have taken place with respect to Mount Carmel Private Maternity Hospital.
