280. Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if Kerry bog ponies will be included in the calculations for restocking of the hills in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [49187/12]
View answerThe position is that Kerry Bog Ponies will not be included in the calculations for restocking of commonages. The National Parks and Wild Life Service have undertaken a comprehensive evaluation of commonages and established a minimum and maximum ewe equivalent figure for each LPIS parcel within a commonage. The ewe equivalents are restricted to suitable ovine and bovine breeds.
