412. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of occasions on which applications for disability allowance and or invalidity pension have been refused and the refusal upheld on appeal have subsequently been awarded on for of new applications; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A total of 3,047 disability allowance and invalidity pension appeals were disallowed in 2011. A system enquiry reports that an estimated 120 of those customers are currently in receipt of disability allowance or invalidity pension having subsequently qualified for the payment.
