145. Deputy Willie O'Dea asked the Minister for Social Protection when a decision will issue on a carer's allowance application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [50272/12]
View answerI have been advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that the appeal by the person concerned has been allowed by an Appeals Officer on a summary basis following consideration of the documentary evidence in the case. The person will be notified of the outcome in the coming days.
The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions on social welfare entitlements.
