Question:

142. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if he will provide details of the number of semi-State and State agency executives and employees on an agency by agency basis that have salaries of more than €100,000 per year; if he will provide this information in tabular form, detailing any additional allowances, bonuses and the annual cost to the Exchequer of any pension packages to such employees, in terms of tax reliefs or other costs; if he will provide this information for the past three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, employment contracts issued by bodies and agencies funded from my Department's Vote Group are issued in accordance with the relevant provisions for such contracts set down by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. It should be noted that certain contracts also reflect the terms of any specific sanction granted by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.

The numbers of staff of the relevant bodies and agencies currently in receipt of a salary in excess of €100,000 and the corresponding numbers for 2011 are set out in the table below (as the Deputy is aware, my Department was established in June 2011).

I am advised that no additional allowances or bonuses of the type referred to by the Deputy are paid to these employees. In relation to the issue of pension costs, the position is that the relevant pension schemes, which are based on the standard civil service model pension scheme, are a matter for the bodies in question.
