View answerThe Department accepts that significant issues have been raised by the Ombudsman in relation to the Motorised Transport Grant and the Equal Status Acts. The Department accepts that the Motorised Transport Grant cannot continue in its current form and must be compliant with the Equal Status Acts. The Department are seeking further legal advice on the options available to the Minister and is endeavouring to make sure that those who currently receive the grant, and rely on it, are protected as far as possible.
