Deputy Peter Mathews asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will provide, in tabular form, the number of persons in each university at professor grade, by university, in each of the years 2010, 2011 and 2012; where professors have retired, resigned or otherwise left universities, if they have been replaced and if so, at what grade; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe data sought is unavailable in the format requested by the Deputy. The latest available data in my Department was provided by the universities for the period 1 January, 2011 to end October 2012 as set out in the table attached. My Department has asked the Higher Education Authority to request the required information for 2010 from the Universities and I will arrange for it to be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available. Data on Retired University Professors (1st January 2011 to end October 2012)
