676. Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport he funding provided by his Department for road maintenance and investment in the Dublin City Council area in 2011, 2012 and 2013; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2366/13]
View answerThe improvement and maintenance of regional and local roads in its area, is a statutory function of each road authority in accordance with the provisions of section 13 of the Roads Act, 1993. Works on such roads are a matter, for the relevant local authority to be funded from its own resources supplemented by State road grants. The initial selection and prioritisation of works to be funded is also a matter for the local authority. Details of the funding provided to Dublin City Council in 2011 and 2012 for roads are available in the Dáil library. I will announce the 2013 road grant allocations in due course.
