Deputy John Lyons asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if a contract has been awarded for the upcoming preparatory works and construction works for the Luas BXD project; if the tender or part of the tender will include a social clause to consider those who are currently long-term unemployed for some of the positions under the contract; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerAs Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. Following the establishment of the National Transport Authority (NTA) in December 2009, the implementation and development of infrastructure projects in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA), such as the proposed Luas Cross City Line, comes under the remit of the NTA. Noting this I have referred the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
