589. Deputy Tom Fleming asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will issue an original horse passport as a matter of urgency in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; if he will immediately issue the original passport; if he will arrange a meeting with his officials to have the issue finalised once and for all; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is understood that the person concerned registered a foal in 2009 with a passport issuing organisation, a passport was not received and a duplicate passport issued in 2012 that was stamped as ‘not fit for human consumption’ in accordance with national and EU legislation. In such circumstances it is not possible to issue the original passport as a duplicate passport has issued.
