Further to my response to Parliamentary Question Ref. No. 2195/13, I am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that following an initial review of the appeal, an Appeals Officer indicated that an oral hearing might be helpful. In that context, the case was assigned to a different Appeals Officer who, having had an opportunity to examine the case more closely, concluded that an oral hearing was not required and decided the appeal by way of summary decision. The appellant has been notified of the Appeals Officers decision.
