174. Deputy Joan Collins asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if an application for Garda clearance was received in 2012 from the Irish Wheelchair Association, seeking clearance in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim; when the application is expected to be processed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that a vetting application on behalf of the person concerned was received by the Garda Central Vetting Unit (GCVU) on 18 December 2012. The application is currently being processed and it is anticipated that a response will issue to the registered organisation involved shortly.
