429. Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will provide, for the period since the introduction of the new firearms licensing regime, the total forecast to the State of the High Court Judicial Review held before Mr. Justice Hedigan in early 2012, including both the State's own legal costs and the legal costs of all 168 applicants for which the State accepted liability; the total forecast cost to the State of all appeals to the courts against refusal decisions by gardaí to grant restricted firearms certificates, including the direct legal costs of the State and the appellants' legal costs that where awarded against the State; and the total estimated cost of all Garda time in processing and providing backup to the failed legal actions.
