860. Deputy Robert Dowds asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will give consideration to amending the proposed changes in the pay and conditions of members of An Garda Síochána to better reflect the anti-social hours of work which Gardaí must do, the danger that Gardaí put themselves in to protect the public and to tackle the ongoing problem of poor morale amongst Gardaí; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Both the Commissioner and I are always available to engage in constructive and meaningful discussions on matters affecting the members of the Garda Síochána. However, the proposals which emerged from the discussions in Lansdowne House stand and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment on this matter at this particular time.
