Questions (171)

Bernard Durkan

Question:

171. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will defer deportation pending a full investigation into the circumstances whereby a deportation order issued in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow, who understood during their seven years employment here that their stamp 4 had been authorised and was fully up to date, notwithstanding his reply to previous parliamentary questions wherein it was indicated to the contrary; to ensure that no exploitation of such persons takes place and that persons in such employment are not deprived of their human rights, he will take immediate steps to have the matter fully investigated and the applicant's full entitlements restored; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the light of the new information supplied by the Deputy I have asked my officials to review this case as soon as possible. The outcome of that review will then be communicated to the person concerned.
