216. Deputy Andrew Doyle asked the Minister for Defence his plans for LE Emer and LE Aoife when they are decommissioned from the Irish Naval Service in September 2013 and September 2014 respectively; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24735/13]
View answerIn consultation with the Naval Service, the Department of Defence recently sought expressions of interest from qualified persons who could assist the Department with the sale of LE Emer and LE Aoife following the decommissioning of both vessels. The closing date for the receipt of such expressions of interest by the Department is tomorrow Thursday 23 May 2013. Following the deadline for receipt of the expressions of interest, the Department will follow up with interested parties with regard to the selection process of the person or company to assist the Department of Defence with the sale of the vessels, including the methodology for the sale process.
