Third level institutions are autonomous bodies and my Department has no function in their operational management, including matters relating to the leave arrangements of college staff. The information requested by the Deputy is therefore not available in my Department or the Higher Education Authority (HEA). My Department receives data on a quarterly basis in relation to the whole time equivalent employee numbers (academic / non academic) from the third level institutes via the HEA. I set out below the most recent data on Academic employee numbers for Third Level Institutions funded by the State.
