78. Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Skills his views on the plans of UCC to make medicine students cover the full cost of their accommodation for training placements required as part of their course; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25493/13]
View answerThe position is that higher education institutions, including universities such as UCC, are autonomous bodies and I have no role in their day to day operational affairs including issues such as costs incurred by students for training placements. Such matters are the responsibility of the management authority and governing body of the University.
