Under the current Multiannual Financial Framework of the EU, Ireland receives some €10m annually from the Lifelong Learning Programme, which is distributed through the National Agencies, Léargas and the Higher Education Authority.

Applications for grants under the Lifelong Learning Programme are invited annually by the agencies by public advertisement.

The Lifelong Learning Programme covers areas of education and training, from school to adult and higher education. Its primary objective is to encourage mobility between member states for educational purposes.
