Substantial funding towards local authorities’ water conservation programmes is being provided under my Department’s Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2013. Watermains rehabilitation is a key priority under the Programme which includes the County Cork watermain rehabilitation Programme valued at €23.21 million. My Department has not received a submission from the Council in relation to Cape Clear Island. I understand that the Council are preparing an application in relation to watermains rehabilitation works on Cape Clear Island and that this will be submitted to my Department shortly.
