480. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of hit and run collisions in which there were fatalities which occurred in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 here; the number of persons seriously injured in hit and run collisions during this period; and the number of hit and run collisions in which there was significant damage to vehicles recorded during this period. I am informed by the Garda authorities that road collision statistics are not recorded in a manner which would enable the specific statistics sought by the Deputy to be compiled without requiring a disproportionate expenditure of Garda time and resources.
