Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Social Protection if she will consider the introduction of a third band of employers PRSI contributions on the balance of all salaries exceeding €100,000 as a revenue generating measure; if not, the reason for her decision; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The introduction of a third band of employers’ PRSI contribution rate payable on the balance of all salaries exceeding €100,000 could only be considered in a Budgetary context and would have to take account of the Programme for Government commitment to maintain the standard 10.75% rate of employer PRSI.
