View answerMy Department investigated a suspected case of warble fly infestation in July 2013 which proved to be negative. Warble fly infestation is a notifiable disease in cattle and owners and keepers of cattle should notify the Department if they suspect the presence of this disease in any of the cattle in their care. The Department, through its network of Local Offices and Regional Veterinary Laboratories, maintains the capacity to investigate suspect cases of notifiable disease and monitors patterns and frequencies of different diseases, including parasitic diseases in farmed animals; the latter is reported on an all-island annual basis and these reports are available to download from the Department’s website.
