I gave an answer to the Deputy's question on the 26th of September.  Under Sections 11 and 50 of the Taxi Regulation Act, 2003, the National Transport Authority (NTA) has powers to give financial assistance to Local Authorities for the development of infrastructure for the small public service vehicles services.  I indicated that the question would be referred to the NTA for a more detailed reply.

I regret that on this occasion the NTA did not receive the information request from my Office. However, this has now been rectified and the NTA has confirmed that it will expedite the matter and forward the relevant information to the Deputy as soon as possible.
