205. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Social Protection the position regarding a non-contributory pension review in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin. [48020/13]
View answerEntitlement to the State pension (non-contributory) is subject to a means test. Items which count as means include cash income, including British pensions, the value of any property (excluding a person’s own home) and the value of any savings and investments.
The person concerned did not qualify for the State pension (non-contributory) as her means exceeded the current statutory limit. It should be noted that payment for a qualified adult on State pension (contributory) is also subject to a means test.
