View answerThis is not a matter in which I, as Minister, have a function. In accordance with section 42 of the Broadcasting Act 2009, all commercial communications by broadcasters are subject to codes established by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI). In particular, the BAI General Commercial Communications Code sets out the rules in respect of sponsorship of news and current affairs programming. I understand that the code prohibits the sponsorship of news and current affairs programmes on television and of news programmes on radio.
