520. Deputy Seán Kenny asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the amount of alcohol seized by An Garda Síochána from persons in a public place in the years 2011 and 2012; the monetary value of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [49079/13]
View answerI am informed by the Garda authorities that in 2011, 486 incidents were recorded where alcohol was seized by An Garda Síochána. In 2012, 354 incidents were recorded. The estimated monetary value of alcohol seized in 2011 and 2012 is €60,516 and €20,463, respectively. Figures provided are operational and liable to change.
