562. Deputy Dara Calleary asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if any assistance is available for persons with reading and writing difficulties when sitting their driver theory test; the criteria for applying for assistance in the event that it is available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The driver theory test is provided by an outside contractor on behalf of the Road Safety Authority.  It is my understanding that people who have special needs can contact the Driver Theory Service in advance of their tests, and arrangements can be made to accommodate them.
