Deputy Mary Mitchell O'Connor asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will consider providing a grant-aided purchasing framework for post-primary schools to replace the computers used to teach technology subjects as they are no longer capable of running the new software demanded by the curriculum; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is aware of the issues in relation to T4 subject equipment. The availability of funding to meet particular school needs is considered in the light of overall priorities and is subject to the level of resources available to my Department. I will keep the question of the provision of funding for this purpose under review.
