Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will confirm that the provisions of the Criminal Law (Incest) (Amendment) Bill 2012 are incorporated into the approved heads of the Criminal Justice (Sexual Offences) Bill; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerI can confirm to the Deputy that the General Scheme of the Sexual Offences Bill includes a provision to increase the penalty for incest by a female to life imprisonment in order to bring into line with the penalty for incest by a male. I announced on 17 December last that the General Scheme will be published by the end of this month.
