Deputy Lucinda Creighton asked the Taoiseach the total number of chairpersons of State boards, agencies and regulators which fall under his Department’s responsibility who were chairpersons when he became Taoiseach and continue to be chairpersons; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe Chairperson of the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) has traditionally been Secretary General of my Department. I appointed the current Secretary General as Chairperson of the NESC and Chairperson of the National Economic and Social Development Office (NESDO) with effect from 1 August 2011 for a five year term.
Section 18 of the the Statistics Act 1993 sets out the composition and membership of the National Statistics Board (NSB). The NSB comprises a Chairperson and seven Board members.
The Chairperson of the NSB who was in situ when I took office in 2011 was reappointed as Chairperson of the NSB in 2013.
