250. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the reason the National Driving Licence Service will not accept a marriage certificate in Italian from a person who got married in Italy and who wishes to renew her driving licence in her married name; if his attention has been drawn to this rule by the Road Safety Authority; the reason for the rule in view of our membership of the European Union; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The operation of the National Driver Licensing Service is the statutory responsibility of the Road Safety Authority.  I have therefore referred this question to the Authority for direct reply.  I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
