114. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection the extent to which domiciliary care allowance and other relevant support is available in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4792/14]
View answerDomiciliary care allowance is payable in respect of children under the age of 16 who have a severe disability that requires care and attention substantially in excess of another child of the same age. The care and attention received must be given by another person, effectively full-time so that the child can deal with the normal activities of daily life. The child must be likely to require this level of care and attention for at least 12 months.
The person concerned is already in receipt of domiciliary care allowance for two children and is also in receipt of the associated respite care grant.
