An application for domiciliary care allowance was received from the person concerned on the 7th May 2013. The application was considered by a deciding officer with the benefit of the opinion of one of the Department’s medical assessors. A letter issue to the applicant advising of the decision to disallow DCA, as it was not considered that the child met the medical criteria, issued on the 2nd July 2013.

The person concerned requested a review of the decision and provided additional information on the child’s condition. The case was further considered by another medical assessor, who considered based on the evidence provided that the child met the medical eligibility for the allowance. A revised decision allowing the application was made by the deciding officer and the person concerned was notified of this decision on the 29th November 2013.
